Välkommern till sidorna om Hans, Mette, Ofelia och Linnea

24 hours!

In 24 hours are we on the plane waiting for takeoff! (9 pm Swedish time).

I suppose we are ready, and still it’s a bit unreal – we ARE going back after 5 years!

Hans has the day off tomorrow, Linnea will only attend school, no day care and I will work till 2:30 pm. (14:30)

Yesterday I asked Linnea what was the most exciting about the trip, and her answer was sightseeing and shopping – my girl! I said I looked forward to see the hotel too, and the food. Finally we agreed on it’s just plain exciting all of it!

With this picture from last week, the duck pond and our church, we greet you all!

7th of December

With only a few hours left of this December 7th, I felt like writing a little.

Time is an odd thing!

Today I have been living 21 years with a father and 19 with out.

19 years ago we were planning a funeral and preparing the first Christmas with out my father. It was a peaceful time, cause my father had been sick for quite a while.

5 years later, in 1998 this day, Hans and I were celebrating 6 months as an engaged couple. We were about to celebrate our first Christmas together, and our last while living in Denmark. We also had our first Christmas with a dog in the family.

I don’t feel old, but I do feel that I was very young in 1993, way to young to loose my father. In 1998 I had grown so much older. But thinking of us back in 1998 I do feel we were young too. We had so many dreams, and such little knowledge of what was waiting for us. I think the only thing I was sure of, was that we belonged together, now and forever!

Many things have happened on the way from then to now. Many changes but the constant is our love to each other. It’s our foundation and it’s solid.

I feel that the red thread from my childhood, to my youth, our marriage, us becoming parents and up til now is LOVE. I grew up with lots of love, I live in love with Hans and we pass it on to Linnea.

Now Christmas is coming up. Hans and I are celebrating our 15th Christmas together. Only 2 of 15 has been celebrated in Denmark. 12 in Sweden and now our 15th will be celebrated in China.

I have had many fantasies of how my life would turn out, but never had I thought that it could be this amazing, I just wish my father could have shared some of these happy moments with us. That he had met Hans and Linnea, that he had been here in my wonderful old home.

Well I think he keeps an eye on us from where ever he is.

Pictures from China 2007

When we were in China in 2007 we had an internet gallery. This does not exists any more, so I decided to make a new one here on the blog. And to refresh my memories from a trip to the other side of the earth, where I became a mother and Hans a father! A trip so different from anything we ever did and ever will do! A trip to a new life!

China has a huge place in our hearts and will always have. But our memories of the trip is a mix of a fantastic country, a huge city, becoming a family, being so far from home and our loved ones and we can only imagine what Linnea went through. Getting our Linnea was absolutely the best gift we could ever get, but that we didn’t know at the time. Our trip was also a trip with more emotions in the air than any of us ever had experienced before  (and ever will again). Sadness and confusion. Loneliness & helplessness. These big emotions are printed in our bodies and refreshing my memories of the happy moment by looking at the photos make me realize that we really had an amazing start as a family. Look at our smiles! They were there many times! You see it in our eyes! In a split second we became parents to a miracle. Our bodies knew, but our minds needed time to cope with all that was going on!

5 years have passed. We are about to go back as a family. For me it hopefully will bring closure to the though memories! And it will be amazing! (And now I know how to make a gallery when we’re in China again!)

Enjoy the trip back in time from October 22nd to November 8th 2007. Click on the photo to enlarge them.

China again!

5 years ago we got our daughter in China. We had a tough trip and just wanted to go home.

Now we’re going back! On the 19th of December we’re flying from Copenhagen to Beijing – and back on the 27th of December. We’re going to celebrate Christmas in Beijing. And “We” are Linnea, Hans, Mette and my mother Lise/Mormor!

It’s a tourist trip with sightseeing – all we didn’t cope to see or do when we just became parents. This time we are a family.

I do hope to be able to update here when we are there!

Later I will update with links and more information on the program!

We are all looking so much forward to finally be tourists in such an exciting country. We are still planning to go to Nanning in 2014, both as tourists and visiting our dear friends – Linneas foster mom and foster dad!

Meditation, Yin & Yang

I’ve added a new category called Stories of Linnea, cause so many things are happening now.

On the 20th of August she started school and she loves it!

Yesterday she started Swim class. The children in grade 0 (something in between kinder garden and school) and 1 can attend. Linnea was the only one from the 0 class. But her only comment to that was “I got a new friend”. A teacher from “after school daycare” takes the children cross the school yard to the indoor pool and pick them up after class. Next time the group of children have to go by them selves! Suddenly she is getting big!

I or we have many intresting and funny talks with Linnea and I need to document them to be able to tell her when she grows up!

On Sunday Linnea was showering. She sat on the floor in meditation pose. Then she asked me what meditation meant. I told her that it is about focusing on your breath, emptying your head from thoughts and if a thought pop up you just let it fly by like a bird.
The next morning we drove to the dog-daycare and when I got into the car she was sitting in meditation pose again. “I just meditated a little” she said

This morning when we sat in the car on our way to the dog-daycare and school Linnea asked: “Is Yin & Yang made of stone?” I explained that Yin & Yang is a symbol representating opposite sides of thing. Like Linnea has black hair and her friend Mathilda is very light blond. Like day and night. Good and evil. I said that you need both to know one. Then Linnea says: “It reminds me of a movie!” “Mulan” (Disney Cartoon about a Chinese girl). “In the song they say: You have to have night and day, light and darkness, heaven and earth.” I must say I’m amazed by her ability to remember and draw parallels to things we’re talking about and things she seen or heard long ago!
While on holiday in Malta Linnea learned some English: Numbers, days and some useful words.
One day at home she was watching cartoons with her friend Nannie. Mostly Linnea has her cartoons in Swedish, but now she said: “Nannie, I only have these in English, but if we watch them we’ll learn English before we start school!”

I will end this post with some funny Linnea pictures……. Click to enlarge!

Malta July 2012

17/7-12
Sitting on the balcony at 7 in the morning. When I came out a woman in the house across the street said good morning from her window.
We all went to bed at midnight. Linnea did very well on the flight and we landed on time. Since we only had one suitcase and it was among the first ones out we quickly went to the taxi office, prepayed and drove off.
We got a first floor room facing the streets. Only a little noise this morning. Lots of birds are singing.
Hans & Linnea are asleep. Linnea has managed to turn her self into both sheets and I wonder if she will find her way out.
Today we’ll eat hotel breakfast for the first time since China, nice.
Then we’ll take a walk in the neigborhood and do a little shopping and unpack ofcourse.
Our room has 6 sides. We are in the corner. It’s quite big, 3 beds and we have a small fridge. The beds are ok excerpt for the noise. A wooden botten that makes very much noise.
I’m hungry now and soon I’ll take a quick shower. Hans put the alarm to 8 am so soon they have to wake up.
Just now I saw the sign: China Kingdom. Maybe a Chinese restaurant just down the street. Then a big bus parked just under the balcony – noisy! The AC on the top is on and blows hot air up to me.

18/7-12
Out of bed after 10 hours. No wonder my back hurts. But after a hot day with a walk to the sea and back, time in the pool, another walk, a couple of hours in the room and finally dinner I crashed into bed at 10 pm. The sun is very strong so both Hans & I got burned on our shoulders and neck.
I find it a bit hard to know what to do when you only have a few hours in the morning where you won’t burn. Linnea & Hans was in the pool for more than 3 hours and he didn’t feel a thing. Linnea on the other hand wasn’t near by beeing burned. We all had sun lotion factor 30 on but little did it help.
We have AC in the room but decided not to use it. We have a ceiling fan and that is on at all time.
The hotel is good, no more or no less than expected. But the surroundings are not so exciting. Lots of big hotels cloesed down. Restaurants and shops like wise.
There are bars/pubs open and some small shops. We want to get a map so we might be able to find more restaurants since we this time don’t have a kitchen.
We have been looking on boat trips to the blue lagoon. A day trip with 4 hours in the lagoon. It looks good but I do worry for more sun burn. We talked about waiting till Tuesday next week.
So for today we have no plans so far.

21/7-12
Our days look alike and sometimes we can’t remember what day it is. Our days are like this:
Breakfast
Pool
Shower
Walk in town to get lunch
Relax in the room
Pool
Walk in town to get dinner

We have found the square in town, with more pubs (= fastfood) and a few shops. the food is a bit borrning I do miss the Greek food, but is is nice to have holiday in a warm country when the summer is raining away at home.

Linnea has improved her swimming skils enormously. She really got notiser for her efforts in the pool: 4 Italian guys applaude when she managed a long swim in the deep water, an Italian man said bravo! a Danish couple had a lot of fun watching her and an young Danish woman said we were a lovely family. Now after these few days in the pool Linnea is just doing it. Swimming with out puffs/wings, under or over water, diving and jumping in.

Tomorrow, Sunday, we’re taking a sightseeing bus around the island. We make a stop in Valetta, the capital and go to the market. Hop on again and move on, maybe hop off again.

We also plan to take a boat trip to the blue lagoon, where the water is crystal clear.

4 years

Where did the time go?

4 years are a long time, and a short time too. On the one hand I can’t understand that we have been parents for 4 years on the other hand, hasn’t Linnea been with us always?

Every year I look back to make a photo movie, and I’m amazed how much Linnea is developing, intellectual, social and in any other way.

Some of the biggest events this year has been:

  • Loosing 2 teeth
  • Got her ears pierced
  • Being on holiday in Denmark in grandma’s summerhouse without mom and dad
  • Riding a camel in a circus
  • Being on holiday to Greece
Normally we would have taken the day off today, but I’m at a new job and it’s important to be there because I want to stay there more than the 3 months I was promised. So on Saturday we will celebrate our 4th family day and our 10th wedding anniversary (Thursday) with my mother, one of Linneas best friend and her family. First we’re going bowling and then we’ll eat at an Asian restaurant.
Tonight she’ll get her present!
Well no more “talking” now, here comes the 2011 video with music is “My wish” by Rascall Flats. Enjoy!
Download/watch the video here if you can’t see it on YouTube!
